Koyama: What is the reason that Kato chose to try writing a novel in these circumstances?

Shige: When Arashi’s Ohno held a one-man exhibition, I was really impressed. I realized that such a thing was possible and that it would probably benefit Arashi too. I felt that he had returned to reality. I felt that I’d like to do things in that way too. There was a part of me that wanted to become a person who could produce something. I had also started to lose sight of who I was as a person. I also wanted to do something for the sake of the group. For example, if people who didn’t know who I was or who NEWS are, if they picked up my book, they might think it was interesting and think, “What? This person is from Johnny’s? They’re an Idol?” Then that person might come to our concerts and become Koyama’s fan. That would probably be the ideal situation. I’d like it if they could see the other members’ charms through my work.

Firstly, I think Ohno is definitely an artist. I found myself marvelling at how amazing he is all over again when he choreographed for us during last year’s concert tour. He’s also shown us the art he’s been doing recently, and our senses are completely different. It feels like he’s been honing his sense as an artist over the years, though I’m sure it’s also thanks the increased number of opportunities like his exhibit and so forth where he can be productive.

—-That is true. On the one hand, he’s become more optimistic towards work over the years. He’s enjoying his work with dramas and variety shows, and we can see that he enjoys being in Arashi too.

I just think he’s all grown up now. Leader probably realizes he needs to work hard too, don’t you think? (laugh)
